Articles by Monks and Monastic Associates
There are some wonderful reflections we’d love you to look at. Over at Catholic World Report there are two essays co-written by Abbot Nicholas and our soon-to-be Postulant, Benjamin Mann:
Ben has many marvelous personal articles on CatholicExchange.com. His most recent essay is a deeply personal and beautiful reflection, Finding Release from the Fear of Loneliness. Our great friend and Monastic Associate Jessica Archuleta has also been busy writing for CatholicExchange.com. Her most recent article is a reflection on St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine. Jessica and her husband Manny have many years experience incorporating the spirituality of eastern monasticism into their family life. They have a great blog enticingly called “Every Home a Monastery!”
Can be found here. All are welcome to join us as we prepare for the great mystery of our salvation!
Hieromonk Maximos gave a lenten retreat to the students of Conception Abbey College Seminary in the first week of Great Lent. He spoke on Prayer of the Heart. From March 21 through 28 he will be in Aurora Illinois, speaking at St. George Romanian Greek Catholic Church and, on March 27, to the staff of the Pro-Life Action League. From March 29 through April 6 Fr. Maximos will be giving a series of talks and homilies in Portland, Oregon at Holy Rosary Church.
On Saturday, February 15, Abbot Nicholas was present at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay, WI when Bishop David Ricken blessed six new men to the Office of Reader. These men are part of the diaconate formation program of the Green Bay Diocese. (Bishop Ricken, Fr. Abbot and the new readers are in the accompanying photograph.)
After the Mass, Abbot Nicholas spoke to the Deacons and Deacon candidates of the diocese and their wives on the Eastern Churches in the New Evangelization.

The event took place at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, Mundelein, IL. Abbot Nicholas was the main celebrant and preacher. The choir from Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer Glen, IL sang. Video below and here. The text of Abbot Nicholas’ homily can be found here: Homily for Bright Friday
