Auto woes!
On May 19 Father Abbot Nicholas was driving from working a farmers' market (where we sell our Monks' Oven baked goods) back to the monastery. About 50 miles from home, way out in the desert, the minivan he was driving suddenly caught fire!
Father Nicholas had the good sense to pull over immediately and exit the vehicle. Within minutes it was fully engulfed leaving, when it was all over, nothing but a burnt-out shell. Thank God, Father was unhurt. Some passing motorists came to his aid and called the Highway Patrol and local fire department.
We think the problem was an electrical fault, although it is difficult to know exactly what caused the fire. Thanks be to God the damage was only to property, and not to Father Nicholas himself or to some other passer-by.
One consequence of this accident is that the monastery is in dire need of a replacement vehicle for this minivan! If you, or someone you know, is able to donate an automobile to Holy Resurrection Monastery please contact us on (760) 257-4008 or holyresurrection@mscomm.com
God bless you, and please continue to pray for the safety and wellbeing of our community!
